What a wonderful couple of days. The Nelson International Aromatics Symposium was once again held in the heart of Nelson's wine growing region. Great wines, stimulating discussion, beautiful sunshine and entertaining ukulele: a truely Nelson experience.

Themes of the symposium:

  • New Zealand Riesling - the decade in review
  • Review of Riesling and Grüner Veltliner with an Austrian focus

    Jamie Goode says:
The aromatics symposium was perfect. Educational, nice people, good organization, nice pace. Yep, drink to that! Twitter Saturday 1 Feb 2013 4:11 PM

    Sam Kim says:
Aroma therapy has never been more pleasing. This year, the symposium will focus on two varieties: riesling and the new kid on the block, grüner veltliner. It's a rare chance to taste Austrian grüner with New Zealand counterparts, and a line-up of older rieslings to see just how well they can mature. There will be insightful presentations of these grapes; focus tastings; and a delightful picnic dinner at Neudorf with Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra. This is a cosy and intimate gathering, set in the sunny Upper Moutere district of Nelson. It is sure to be one of the most gratifying wine experiences this year.
